Are you ready for some GAME DAY FOOD & FOOTBALL?!
There is nothing like game day food when you are cheering on your favorite team. The season may look a little different, but game day food will continue to rock on!
Some of my absolute favs are sliders and one of the usual suspects, guac and chips. I heart sliders because they are the perfect size and they are so versatile you can do almost anything with them. Slider bar, check. Meatball slider, check. Cheeseburger slider, check. The possibilities are limitless. Guacamole for me is a fan fav for so many reasons...it's quick and easy. You can scale the recipe. And...EVERYONE loves guac! (Don't they?!)
Wanted to share one of my favorite slider flavor combos: Spinach, caramelized onion and swiss cheese on a TOASTED Brioche slider bun. Notice how I have the word toasted in ALL caps?! That means it's important. If you've been with me for awhile now...you know I have an obsession with 2 things (well probs more, but these 2 are at the top of my list!) toasted buns and @delwoodcincy. :)
Pro Tips for making the ultimate slider:
Rule number 1. Toast your buns. Rule number 2, don't forget rule number 1. LOL
Make sure you have a good burger patty to bun ratio. When making your patties make them a little larger than your bun size, with an indentation in the middle. The burgers will shrink when cooking.
Season your patty generously
Have all your toppings ready to go
My Guac Recipe
4 avocados, flesh scooped out and mashed
lime juice from half of a lime
1/2 of a small red onion diced
1 jalapeno, seeded and diced (leave the seed if you want more heat)
Bunch of cilantro, 4 T coarsely chopped
Salt to taste
I use a potato masher to mash my avocados. It is the best tool! Also if you are like some and like it hot, you can substitute habanero or serrano peppers for the jalapeno.
Cheers to game day and all the game day food!
Life is short, live your dash and be inspired. xoxo -diana
